Attire

Outdoor formal attire

Dress up, but keep the setting in mind. The celebration will be outdoors on grass and gravel, so block heels, wedges, dress boots, or comfortable shoes are encouraged. Manitoba October evenings can be cool, so bring a layer you will be happy wearing after sunset.

Suggested wedding guest color palette: olive, deep forest green, chocolate, terracotta, and wine.

Money Dance

Traditional Filipino prosperity dance

Is a cherished wedding custom that symbolizes prosperity, generosity, and well wishes for the newlyweds. During the dance, family and friends pin money onto the couple's attire as they dance together, offering their love, blessings, and support as they begin this new chapter.

Guests who wish to participate are kindly invited to bring cash. Your gift is a beautiful symbol of your love, blessings, and support as we begin our married life together.

Our Story

A love that found its way

It all began in April 2021 when Sydney and Youn first crossed paths at a soccer field where Youn had a scrimmage game and Sydney tagged along with a friend and her cousin. She had always been enchanted by dogs, but never had the pleasure of owning one. That afternoon, a black lab puppy, barely one year old, was watching his human who, little did Sydney know at the time, was Youn. Neither of them knew it yet, but that small moment was quietly setting the stage for something extraordinary.

In the days, and perhaps a few slightly awkward moments, that followed, they found themselves at a bonfire party hosted by Youn himself. Laughing, talking, a little too much flirting, and teaming up in a game of beer pong. Youn took pictures of everyone at the party, including a few shots of Sydney and even of her singing. A couple days passed and they saw each other again. As smooth as he thinks he is, he came up to Sydney and told her that he had no way of sending pictures to her as he did not have her number or social media, which in hindsight, should have been a clear sign of what was to come.

What started as bar and restaurant hopping down Corydon, both of them unsure of what they wanted and what they were looking for, grew into something they did not expect. They dated for a year and a half until something uncertain grew into something steady and undeniable. Together, they built routines and traditions, raised two dogs, celebrated and went through rough waters, travelled, and met each other's families locally, in Korea, and in the Philippines. Along the way, they discovered that shared humour, maturity, patience, and life simply felt better when they were side by side.

Of course, every great love story has a turning point. On April 10, 2025, four years from the day they met, at the cozy residence of the Kims, with Juan and their two dogs watching WrestleMania, Youn got down on one knee and asked Sydney to spend forever with him. After laughter and joy, Sydney said yes without hesitation. It was beautiful, imperfect in the most perfect way, and something that resembled them.

Now, as they stand on the edge of their next chapter, Youn and Sydney are most excited for a lifetime of adventures, quiet mornings, mundane life tasks, and constantly working on being each other's homes. Surrounded by the people they love, they cannot wait to celebrate not just how their story began, but everything that is still to come.

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by August 15 at the latest. We kindly ask that you respond by this date or even earlier, as it helps us finalize details with our vendors. If we do not hear from you by August 15, we will assume you will not be able to attend and will mark your RSVP as no. Thank you for understanding and for helping us make our planning process a little easier.

What time should we get there?

Please arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the ceremony begins so we can start on time.

Will there be food at cocktail hour?

After the ceremony, we will have a brief transition into the reception. Grab a drink from the bar, say hello to friends and family, and get settled while we prepare for the evening. Dinner will be served soon after, so you will not have to wait long before we celebrate over a great meal together.

Can I bring a plus one?

We wish we could accommodate everyone, however we are kindly keeping our guest list limited to those listed on the invitation.

Are kids allowed?

While we adore your little ones, we have chosen not to have kids at our wedding other than family. Thank you for understanding and celebrating with us.

Is there a wedding registry?

We are fortunate to already have everything we need. Your presence is truly the greatest gift, but if you would like to bless us with a gift, we would sincerely appreciate a monetary contribution to help us build our future together. Most importantly, we are just excited to celebrate with you.

Are pictures allowed during the ceremony?

Absolutely. We would love for you to capture special moments and memories throughout the day. We just kindly ask that you remain seated during the ceremony and be mindful not to block our photographer so everyone can enjoy the moment. If you capture any special moments, we would love for you to share them with us afterwards.

What is the weather plan for the day?

While we have no control over the weather, we are preparing for a range of temperatures. It may feel cool once the sun goes down, but our tented space will help keep things a bit warmer and comfortable for everyone. We suggest bringing a jacket or wrap so you can stay comfortable while celebrating with us.
